Crossing Boundarys in Narrative
The boundary between the storyworld of the narrative and the world of the recipients can be crossed in many ways: In the ritual of Dionysia in Ancient Greece, in the interactive reception of games, in the binge-watching of series or by joining a VR-Storyworld. What challenges arise in the creation of a narrative when the recipients themselves slip into the role of the acting characters, be it as avatars in a game or as participants in a LARP event? And looking from the other side: How do narratives shape our perception of reality when they influence concrete social developments or historical discourses?
