Over the last two decades, Enrique Perez, “KIX”, has worked on a wide range of play-related projects: toys, board games, digital games, gamified everyday-activities, interactive installations, performances, a gamified theatre play, an amusement park attraction, comedy, and nonsensical play.
These works have revolved around peace and conflict resolution, skill development for children on the autism spectrum, the uneven distribution of resources in our society, sustainable living, meditation and concentration, empathy, bullying, school shootings, the forced prostitution of women, the negative effects of corruption in society, extortion and bureaucratic procedures, human rights, as well as other more casual and party games.
Besides engineering playful experiences with commercial, academic and artistic purposes, Enrique, “KIX”, works at “civic playgrounds” consulting on gamification, serious game design, and social design for organizations and institutions working on public policy, sustainability, behavior change, education and social transformation. Enrique´s consulting approach focuses on solving problems, finding adequate solutions, from a new paradigm perspective: a design context grounded on a higher intellectual level, ethics and resilience; working with unnoticed constraints and specifications, taking into account the needs of the entire ecosystem in which the design must operate and ensuring that the solutions benefit and include each and every one of us without compromising our present and our future.
Enrique holds an MSc. in Art and Media Technology (Gothenburg University), an MSc. in Games (IT University of Copenhagen) and a PhD about design methods and design methodologies with focus on the design of independent games (Bayreuth University).
