Willi Xylander is biologist, Director of the Senckenberg Museum of Natural History Görlitz (SMNG) and head of the Department of Soil Zoology of SMNG. Doctoral degree at Göttingen University in 1986 on phylogeny of lower invertebrates. 1986-1994 Research Scientist and Junior Professor at the University of Gießen. Habilitation in 1992. Since 1995 director of SMNG. Since 1997, Honorary Professor for Animal Ecology and Systematics at the University in Leipzig, since 2014 full Professor at TU Dresden. His scientific interests comprise soil biology and ecology as well as evolution and museum research. PI of subproject of museum4punkt0 at SMNG.
