• Perspectives of Narrative Design – Film and Games Summit

Successful film narratives such as Star Wars or Game of Thrones are being transformed into games, whilst successful games such as Tomb Raider or The Last of Us are being turned into movies. The Summit serves as a platform to examine and discuss the differences and similarities between the narrative storytelling forms in both media formats. What are the consequences of an interactive reception on the structure and linearity of a story? What types of conflicts and thus storytelling genres are typically preferred in these media? What different sorts of cultural preferences are we dealing with here? How do character representation and form differ? And most of all: how can game and film in their different narrative strategies serve and enrich each other?
